Other Positive Ways to Engage with Your Community

Diverse group standing in a circle around a community people emblem.

Engaging with Politicians is Important

There is no substitute for engaging with your politicians, and your weekly tasks are a way to do this in concert with others. This must be at the top of your list if you want to see changes important to you happen.

However, there are plenty of other things you can do on top of this to help shape the world. Here are a few:

Take a Friend Out for Coffee

Take a friend out to coffee, discuss current issues and make a commitment together for engaging this week. A little company and accountability never hurts!

Share this site with someone interested in participating who is feeling stuck, overwhelmed or simply on the sidelines. Helping others helps us all, and sometimes people just need a start and you may make all the difference.

Look for Other Opportunities to Engage

  • Check out our Other Sites to Explore page or the web pages of other groups you support for other opportunities to engage.

  •  Volunteer or donate to a food pantry, shelter or other source of strength in your area.

  •  Contacting a candidate you support and asking how you can help.

Verify You’re Registered to Vote

Given the current climate, you may want to do periodically verify you are registered to vote until the elections.

Conclusion

Whatever you do, make sure you are engaging in ways that can help make change happen. It can feel good to vent online and join the chorus of others who share your views, but that is not enough on its own.

Please reach out if you have any insights you would like to share, feedback you would like to give or if you know of a group who would like to join the leadership team here at ccc4democracy.

Thanks,

Mike
